“Grrrr” – Adweek’s Commercial of the Decade

via Adweek

This ad – which I’ve never seen before – has been crowned King of the Commercials. It’s a pretty impressive feat to take the word hate and turn it into a feel-good ad for a car company. But, they did it!

And, to answer the question asked in the commercial, “Can hate be good, Can hate be great?” Clearly, the answer is yes – if the hate is directed at a problem that you work to solve. And the beauty of this ad is the truth in it: The engineers at Honda clearly did hate something (diesel engine clatter) and, as the ad says, then then endeavored to “change something, make something better!”

It’s a cute ad, and a great message. I guess Honda just has a knack for that.
