Infographic of the Year Nominee: Flickr Color Flow

Just stunning. Check the link for the full image, plus the story and meaning behind it. This type of info visualization is less about data, per se, and more about telling a story – in this case, the ‘relative proportion of different colors seen in photos’ on Flickr, over the course of the year. The designers – actually more like artists, I’d say – created a totally abstract yet completely understandable graph, which just happens to look like the coolest color circle ever, and as seen in the vignettes above, becomes something totally different when you zoom in. Wicked.
