Instrument panel of the 2011 Chevrolet Volt is visually disgusting.

via nytimes.com Hmm, let’s see: 11 icons, most sporting a unique visual style. Random alignment of text and graphics. Some 3-d, some flat, some drop-shadowed. At least three different fonts. Text bleeding past the edge of the encasing box. I can’t say I’ve ever seen a worse attempt at data display. Truly awful.

Atrios on the user experience of parking lots

What Atrios said: One thing that’s been puzzling me lately is just how unconcerned parking lots are with the pedestrian experience. I get that parking lots are about, you know, cars, but people still have to travel from their cars to the Wal-Mart somehow yet there’s almost nothing in their design to appropriately accommodate people.
